1. Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how PayCow Distributed Ledger Technologies ("PayCow") uses cookies and related browser storage on paycow.net and related PayCow services. It supplements our Privacy Policy. A cookie is a small value saved by a browser and sent with relevant requests; localStorage and sessionStorage are related browser storage technologies but are not themselves cookies.
2. Essential Session and Security Cookies
PayCow uses strictly necessary session and security mechanisms to provide authenticated administration, access controls and abuse prevention. For example, the administrator sign-in process sets an HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Strict session cookie. Server-side browser verification may also use a short-lived HTTP-only cookie to remember a recent security check. These mechanisms support requested services and help defend against unauthorized access.
Essential cookies may be necessary for secure functionality and are not used as permission for advertising or unrelated tracking.
3. Other Browser Storage
Merchant sign-in currently stores a session token in browser localStorage. Certain dashboard features may also keep local preferences or notification state in localStorage. This data is not a browser cookie, but it may still qualify as personal data when linked to an account. Signing out, clearing site storage, or deleting browser data can affect access and remembered preferences.
4. Embedded Resources and Third Parties
Some pages may load fonts, icon libraries, externally hosted images, launch badges or other third-party resources. Contact with these providers can expose technical request information, such as IP address and browser details, and providers may apply their own storage practices. See the relevant third-party policies for details. Inclusion of a link or badge does not imply that PayCow authorizes cross-site advertising tracking.
5. Analytics, Advertising and Consent
This policy does not assert that optional analytics or advertising cookies are active on every page. If PayCow deploys non-essential cookies or comparable technologies requiring consent, it must first provide the applicable disclosures and obtain valid consent before activating them, with a practical way to refuse or withdraw consent. Merely publishing this policy does not replace a consent mechanism where one is required.
6. Managing Cookies and Storage
You can review, block or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings. Disabling essential session storage may prevent login or break protected features. Where an optional cookie preference tool is provided, you may also change choices there. Browser-level deletion may not erase records held in PayCow server systems; data rights requests follow the GDPR & Data Protection Policy.
7. Retention and Changes
Different storage items have different lifetimes: administrator sessions are time limited, short-lived security verification cookies expire quickly, and localStorage typically remains until cleared or replaced. Exact technical lifetimes can change as security and service needs evolve. We will update this policy when material practices change.
8. Contact
Questions about cookies or browser storage can be sent to [email protected]. Include the relevant page, approximate date and browser details when reporting a technical issue, but never send passwords or session tokens by email.
